Covid-19 PCR test price refunds from pathology groups
In March 2023, a group of medical schemes invited the Competition Commission of South Africa to launch a fresh probe into COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test prices charged by three of the country’s leading pathology labs. According to media reports, the group of medical schemes aimed to claw back R1 billion previously paid out to the pathology labs.
