Gala Dinner

The CMS Industry Indaba Gala Dinner is a distinguished highlight of the two-day programme — an evening that brings together leaders across regulation, policy, academia and industry for reflection, recognition and purposeful engagement.

The Gala Dinner will feature a keynote address by retired Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo on Regulation, Fairness and Sustainability in South Africa’s Health System. Justice Ngcobo, who chaired the Health Market Inquiry will share reflections drawn from his distinguished legal and public service career offering principled insight into the intersection of law, competition, accountability and equitable access to healthcare funding.

The evening will also feature the presentation of an Award for Research, established in honour of the late Prof Lungile Pepeta, former CMS Chairperson, whose leadership was marked by integrity, intellectual rigour and an unwavering commitment to beneficiary protection. The Award recognises outstanding research that advances evidence-based regulation, health system strengthening and innovation within the medical schemes environment.

By celebrating scholarly excellence and hosting constitutional thought leadership at the highest level, the Gala Dinner embodies the spirit of the CMS Industry Indaba — principled, forward-looking, and committed to strengthening South Africa’s healthcare funding landscape.
