Breathing difficulties in children can range from a mild chest tightness or discomfort when breathing in or out to respiratory distress, which is a medical emergency.

Children are not always able to explain what they are experiencing, therefore it is essential to know what to look for to determine if their
condition is a medical emergency or not.

Breathing difficulties, especially respiratory distress, are often sudden, unexpected and requiring immediate treatment, they are often treated as medical emergencies.

The medical scheme must cover the costs related to the diagnosis, treatment, and care by the healthcare professionals at the time of the health emergency.
