Circular 29 of 2025: Withdrawal of Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (Pty) Ltd’s managed care organisation accreditation

The Executive Committee of Council, at its meeting held on 29 August 2025, resolved to withdraw the accreditation of the Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (Pty)(Ltd) as a managed care organisation in terms of Regulation 15C(2)(a) of the Medical Schemes Act (131 of 1998).

The withdrawal took effect from that date, following the entity’s failure to adequately demonstrate compliance with two of the three key requirements for accreditation, as set out in Regulation 15B(2)(d) of the Act. The requirements include being financially sound and having the necessary resources, systems, skills and capacity to render the managed care services. This decision was further prompted by the entity’s failure to meet accreditation conditions within the prescribed timeframes.

The organisation may reapply for accreditation once it is able to demonstrate full compliance with all three key requirements as
set out in Regulation 15B(2)(d), namely that it:
(i) is fit and proper to provide managed care services;
(ii) has the necessary resources, systems, skills and capacity to render the managed care services; and
(iii) is financially sound.
