Circular 23 of 2025: Demarcation Exemption Renewal Framework: Phase 2 data submission

The CMS would like to inform exempted insurers about the revised deadline for Phase 2 of the Demarcation Exemption Renewal Framework data submission, which is now 31 October 2025.

1. Exempted entities are to access the demarcation specification document here.

2. The specification document consists of 18 spreadsheets for insurers to upload information, called DM1 – DM 18.

Please note: A separate data set must be provided for each of the two years, i.e. for 2023 and 2024 respectively.

• Any queries or questions of clarity regarding the data specification and/or submission may be directed to demarcationrenewals@medicalschemes.co.za.

3. The submissions must be uploaded onto the CMS’ SFTP site. Login details (credentials plus link to the FTP site) have been sent to the Data Officers nominated by each exempted insurer.

If you have not yet provided the details of your nominated Data Officer to the CMS, or have not yet received the login details, please contact Mr Isaac Lefika at i.lefika@medicalschemes.co.za without delay.
