CPD Bearing Broker Training
The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) is dedicated to promoting regulatory understanding and strengthening professional competence across the medical schemes industry. In alignment with this commitment, CMS is offering a focused training for Accredited Healthcare Brokers. This is a two CPD Bearing programme aimed at enhancing Healthcare Brokers’ knowledge in relation to the Medical Schemes Act, Strengthen Compliance practices and sharpening their ability to Advice, Guide and Protect members of Medical Schemes.
Online Brief
- The programme is hosted over 2 days of Training with Assessment on the 3rdday.
- Participation is open to all Accredited Healthcare Brokers with valid CMS Broker Registration (BR) number.
- The programme is accredited by Financial Planning Institute of South Africa (FPI).
- This programme carries 7.50 CPD points. Delegates may claim these points upon achieving 60% pass mark on the Assessment.
Training Focus Areas
Participants will gain valuable insight on the following topics:
- Medical Schemes Act and accompanying regulations including recent court rulings and judgements
- Requirements for Financial Services Providers (FSPs) and understanding Board Notice 194.
- The FIAS Act and the Code of Conduct for FSPs.
- Broker Accreditation requirement, conduct and ethical behavior.
- Overview of healthcare and PMB costs.
- Navigating how complaints are adjudicated
